Central Jakarta Mayor Arifin said the administration is currently finalizing an action plan to accelerate urban poverty alleviation, as a follow-up to Jakarta Governor Instruction No. 001/2026.

He explained that the selection of the four urban villages in Johar Baru was based on poverty rates and various other social issues.
An initial and crucial step being carried out in the four areas is a detailed identification of problems. Key issues identified on the ground include high rates of child stunting, school dropouts, poor sanitation, and others.
"We want to ensure that the problem identification is accurate and comprehensive, so that the interventions designed will be well-targeted and effective," he emphasized.
According to Arifin, poverty alleviation efforts will not be handled by a single agency, but will involve multiple regional agencies (OPD), each contributing based on their authority and budget.
"We will also engage strategic partners through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs. Private sector involvement is expected to help fill gaps not covered by the regional budget," he noted.
He added that the process is a continuous effort carried out in stages through the Jakarta Provincial Poverty Alleviation Coordination Team.
The main goal, Arifin said, is not merely to run routine programs, but to create tangible change in Johar Baru.
"We want Johar Baru to transform. Homes should be more livable and well-organized, and residents should be more prosperous and healthier," he stressed.
